Gold shop accounting software for Egypt

In Egypt, VAT is not charged on the value of the piece. It is charged on a making charge per gram that the state publishes. ZahabFlow knows that rule from day one and prints it on the invoice, line by line.

Tax in Egypt: 14% on the published making charge

The Egyptian shape is unlike any other country’s. The rate is 14%, but the base is not what the shop charged the customer. It is a per-gram figure published by the Gold Division together with the Tax Authority, and it changes every fiscal year.

The Egypt pack in ZahabFlow carries the FY2026/27 table: EGP 64.41 per gram at 21K and EGP 96.64 per gram at 18K. Yes, 18K is higher than 21K. That is correct: lighter pieces carry more work per gram.

When the table changes, the old figure is never edited. A new row is added with the date it takes effect, so reprinting last year’s invoice shows the figure that was in force that day, not today’s.

What to know before you start

  • The current table covers 21K and 18K, which is what has been published. A sale at a fineness with no published figure is refused instead of being taxed on a guess.
  • The gram rate follows the world price converted to pounds with your own margin, or you enter it by hand if you follow the local trade price.

What every shop gets

A till priced from the rate of the moment

Price is never stored on a piece. It is rebuilt at every sale from the gram rate, fineness, making charge and tax, then fixed on the invoice.

Stock in grams per karat

Weight is stored in nanograms and fineness as parts per thousand, so pure grams add up and reconcile with no rounding.

Trade-in and buying scrap

The customer pays part of the price in old gold on the sell screen itself, and every gram that comes in is recorded with its cost and source.

Workshop

The customer’s gold on the bench is weighed going out and coming back, and the loss is recorded per craftsman.

Selling without internet

The arithmetic runs on the device itself; the sale waits in a queue, is sent when the connection returns, and the server re-prices it.

Day close

Expected grams per fineness and expected cash, against what you counted, with the difference recorded and a note.

Arabic and English

Arabic first, right to left, with full English — one tap to switch.

Questions we are asked

Does it tax my making charge or the published one?

The published one, as Egyptian rules require. Your own making charge prints on the invoice as you charged it; the difference stays with you as margin and is not taxed.

What happens when a new making-charge table is published?

The new table is added with its start date and the old one is left alone. New invoices use the new figures; old invoices reprint with what was in force on their date.

Does it support Egyptian e-invoicing?

It maps each invoice to the fields the Tax Authority system expects and keeps a list of invoices waiting. Signing and live submission need the shop’s own credentials and are not connected yet — we will not tell you an invoice was sent when it was not.

Can I sell when the internet is down?

Yes. The till prices the sale and its tax on the device itself, keeps it in a queue on the device, and sends it when the connection returns. The server re-prices it and refuses it if the figures differ.
