Gold shop software · SAR · Ready-made packGold shop software for Saudi Arabia
In the Kingdom, 15% VAT falls on the full value of the piece: gold, making charge and stones. The rule is simple. Applying it to a price that moves all day is what needs software built for gold.
Tax in Saudi Arabia: 15% on the full value
The Saudi shape is "full value": VAT is charged on gold plus making plus stones, after any discount. No special base, no second rate.
The Saudi pack in ZahabFlow has two rows, not one: 5% until 30 June 2020 and 15% from 1 July 2020. Keeping both is what makes a 2019 invoice reprint today at the 5% it was issued with, not at today’s rate.
Every invoice keeps the rate, fineness, making charge and tax-rule version from the moment it was issued, so a reprint never reprices it.
A worked example
A 10 g ring at 21K, at an illustrative SAR 420 per gram of pure gold, with a making charge of SAR 30 per gram:
| Line | Calculation | Result (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| Pure gold | 10 × 875 ÷ 1000 | 8.750 g |
| Gold value | 8.750 × 420 | 3,675.00 |
| Making charge | 10 × 30 | 300.00 |
| Before VAT | 3,675 + 300 | 3,975.00 |
| VAT 15% | 3,975 × 15% | 596.25 |
| Total | — | 4,571.25 |

What to know before you start
- We do not call it "ZATCA approved". Phase 2 integration needs the shop’s device to be onboarded with its own certificate, and that is not built yet.
- The gram rate follows the world price converted to riyals with buy and sell margins you set, or you enter it by hand.
What every shop gets
A till priced from the rate of the moment
Price is never stored on a piece. It is rebuilt at every sale from the gram rate, fineness, making charge and tax, then fixed on the invoice.
Stock in grams per karat
Weight is stored in nanograms and fineness as parts per thousand, so pure grams add up and reconcile with no rounding.
Trade-in and buying scrap
The customer pays part of the price in old gold on the sell screen itself, and every gram that comes in is recorded with its cost and source.
Workshop
The customer’s gold on the bench is weighed going out and coming back, and the loss is recorded per craftsman.
Selling without internet
The arithmetic runs on the device itself; the sale waits in a queue, is sent when the connection returns, and the server re-prices it.
Day close
Expected grams per fineness and expected cash, against what you counted, with the difference recorded and a note.

Questions we are asked
Is VAT charged on the making charge only, or on the gold too?
On both, and on stones as well. The Saudi shape charges 15% on the full value of the piece after any discount.
Is it connected to Fatoora?
It maps each invoice to the required fields, builds the QR data and keeps a list of invoices waiting. Onboarding and live submission need your shop’s own cryptographic certificate and are not connected yet. We say so plainly rather than promise something that is not built.
How do I reprint an old invoice at 5%?
Automatically. Every invoice keeps the rule it was issued under: a 2019 invoice reprints at 5%, today’s at 15%.
Does it work for one small shop?
Yes. It is built so a single shop can start on day one. Sign-up is self-serve and free during launch.
